Healthy Crock Pot Recipes
Great Recipes & More Below
This page is about a beef stew crock pot recipe. There are many ways that you can prepare beef stew in a crock pot, all of which I am sure are very good. However I am just going to be writing about a basic one that my family has always ejoyed for many years.
4-6 lb. chuck roast
5-9 oz. frozen corn
5-9 oz. frozen peas
14-18 oz. carrots sliced
1 1/4 can of French cut green beans, drained
1 24 oz. can whole/diced canned potatoes or fresh diced potatoes.
1 14.5 can of any brand of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano: 14.5 oz. can
1/2 or 1 Big white onion or 1/2 pkg. of pearl onions, fine chopped
1 beef stew seasoning packet
beef bouillon cubes (1 per 1 c. water added)
garlic salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
4-5 cups of water
If you want a leaner cut of meat you may slice off as much of the fat from the roast as you wish. However keep in mind that the fat is what gives it part of the delicous flavor. However it is up to you how to prepare this dish.
That is the great thing about cooking, one must experiement and see what one likes. This can always be very fun. I love to make stew from my beef stew crock pot recipe and then make variations as I see fit when i am cooking.
Also note to set your slow cooker A.K.A. as crock pot to the high setting until the vegetablels and meat are tender. Please note that the potatoes may get done quicker than the carrots. Carrots can cook the entire time, while you may want to only add the potatoes later, because it does not take them as long to cook and they may become overdone. So, it is a good idea to keep an eye on your cooking every hour or two.
